It was a huge craze a few years ago but bubble tea has continued to endure to become a staple drink you can find in most large malls in Canada with franchises like Ten Ren. But those places all use the cheap powder. What if you want something of higher quality? If you’re out in mid-Western Canada then you’re in luck!
Although it’s at the basement of a basic Chinatown mall, Try Again is one of my favorite bubble tea places:
It’s a really crowded interior with very little space to stand let alone sit. It’s really busy here in the afternoon. There’s no line up in the evenings because they close fairly early.
Service is fast and friendly. They only accept cash though.
This is a mango bubble tea:

What are the pearls anyways? They’re so addictive.
I don’t know actually. google it?
Tapioca
(pearls in bubble tea)
A flavourless starchy ingredient, or fecula, produced from treated and dried cassava (manioc) root and used in cooking
Don’t know. Just know these are yummy.
What the heck is cassava?
So you get a yummy drink and you learn at the same time. Definitely a win-win situation!
My favorite is the fresh lychee bubble tea which is slushee-like. It gives me a brain freeze everytime I sip too much in one sitting. The service is fast but there is usually a long line. Not all their drinks are good but I found my favorite here. I highly recommend giving this place a visit if you’re in Calgary.
You need to try thai tea bubble tea! So good!
